Following the revision of the "Measures for the Administration of Fertilizer Registration" and the subsequent tightening of regulations, agricultural law enforcement authorities in multiple regions launched special inspection campaigns targeting the bio-fertilizer market in the first quarter of 2024. The campaigns focused on cracking down on illegal activities such as production without a license, forgery of registration certificate numbers, failure to meet the required viable bacteria count in products, and unauthorized exaggeration of product functions in marketing. Preliminary statistics show that dozens of non-compliant products have been ordered off the shelves, and multiple companies violating regulations have been placed under investigation.
This stringent regulation directly targets the long-standing "bad money drives out good" chaos in the industry, aiming to standardize market order and protect the rights and interests of farmers. The regulations explicitly require that bio-fertilizers indicate the name of the core bacterial strain, the total count of viable bacteria, and the shelf life in a prominent position on the packaging. Industry experts point out that in the short term, some small and medium-sized enterprises will face increased costs and pressure to exit the market; in the long run, this will benefit leading enterprises with core technologies and high-quality products to expand their market share, driving the upgrading of the entire bio-fertilizer industry and promoting the healthy development of green agricultural inputs.
